Storytelling can play an instrumental role in how groups located at the margins can use their voice, strengths, and joys, while embracing their authenticity and roots.

Creating inclusive, culturally responsive, accessible, and courageous spaces for true personal stories can facilitate expanding narratives that capture intergenerational and ancestral wisdom and bring our communities closer.

In this interactive session, participants will learn how to identify and draft their stories, own their insights, and deeply listen to other stories. By using interactive activities, the participants will be guided and walked through the storytelling process.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the process, types, and benefits of storytelling in discovering their strengths, joys and roots.
  • Identify how to identify and write their true personal story
  • Recognize and practice active and deep listening, and
  • List ethical considerations and resources to facilitate inclusive and culturally responsive storytelling
