Call Congress about HUD
On November 13th the administration released a long-awaited Notice of Funding Opportunity(NOFO) for the Continuum of Care program. This program, under HUD, is one of the most significant in distributing funds to homeless assistance programs, many which survivors benefit from including domestic violence specific rental assistance and transitional housing programs. The new policy outlined in the NOFO slashes support for these and other permanent housing programs by more than half, putting as many as 170,000 people at risk across the country who rely on these programs for stable, affordable housing, and at risk of returning to homelessness. If we want to prevent survivors, and others who utilize these programs, from returning to live on the streets, in shelters, or unsafe living conditions, we need to pressure Congress to intervene and halt this NOFO.
