Urge Senate Leadership to Pass
The Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act
The Crime Victims Fund (CVF) is the main source of federal funding for victim services and victim assistants in prosecutors’ office and law enforcement agencies, but it is nearly depleted. Congress must take immediate action to ensure that victim services aren’t cut.
To stave off cuts in the next few years, the Senate must immediately pass the bipartisan Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act, which passed the House by a unanimous voice vote in January. By redirecting unobligated funds from the False Claims Act into the CVF, this bill provides an immediate infusion of non-taxpayer revenue to ensure victims and survivors can continue to receive critical, and often life-saving, support.
Contact Members of Congress to Address Federal Funding delays
Domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, and other programs serving survivors have been experiencing delays in federal funding across core funding. This instability is forcing programs to consider staffing reductions, reduced services for survivors, and, in some cases, program closures.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) must immediately publish all Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) and expedite the release of congressionally appropriated funds so programs can continue providing lifesaving services to survivors. Survivors and programs cannot wait – this action is needed today!
