Californians, stand up! Will you help us turn the Golden State purple? Whether you’re a seasoned advocate or a concerned community member, our Domestic Violence Awareness Month calendar has you covered. Expand your understanding of domestic violence and solutions with weekly themes:

  • California’s Survivors: Explore the needs of immigrant and incarcerated survivors in our state. Highlights include a Facebook Live chat with survivor Kelly Savage, and a new Members-only guide to writing incarcerated survivors.
  • Healing for Whole Families: This week, Partnership Members provide special insights on supporting children impacted by domestic violence, serving families who stay together after abuse has occurred, and working with people who harm. This is the week to commemorate a survivor, advocate or loved one on our new Wall of Honor (coming soon!).
  • Community Supports: How does a community rally around survivors to support their safety? Key investments must be made in prevention and accountability for people who harm. Don’t miss our our Facebook Live Chat with Lenore Anderson of Californians for Safety and Justice, and Liat Wexler’s video on strategies for serving LGBTIQ survivors.
  • Shifting Culture With Public Policy: A wave of political engagement has swept the nation. Are you interested in getting more involved? Dive into the policy priorities impacting survivors in California, including the state and federal budget and immigration. Partnership Members receive an exclusive deep dive guide into op-ed writing.

Our daily calendar of activities and resources include interactive Facebook chats, shareable images and videos. Our campaign is meant to initiate thoughtful conversations and mobilize action–from media and policy advocacy to conversations at your dinner table. Over the course of the month, we’ll dive deeply into strategies that support survivors, families, and communities that address domestic violence.
