Webinar was held on January 24, 2019
SafeBAE’s Executive Director, Shael Norris presented a comprehensive overview of their materials covering bystander intervention, affirmative consent, Title IX, supporting survivors, and information about preventing sexual assault among teens and the rape culture that leads to it. Participants were introduced to the ways they can access free resources to utilize in their work with grade 6-12 students and empower them as cultural change leaders.
Shael has dedicated her career to ending sexual violence. She is passionate about empowering young people to be change agents in preventing violence. She was a founding staffer of V-Day, overseeing the College and Community Campaigns for 19 years. After decades of work focused on college sexual assault, she sought a grant to establish SafeBAE to focus specifically on younger students. Her three children and dedication to making schools a safer place was the driving force which lead to the creation SafeBAE.
