Rebecca Nussbaum, Southern Regional Representative
Associate Director of Programs, Community Resource Center
Rebecca believes that everyone has the right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to grow up in an environment free from violence. With roots in direct service, Rebecca has been working in the movement since 2006, when she began as an intern in a Domestic Violence Therapeutic Children’s Center. Since that time, she has had the opportunity to work at all levels of the domestic violence services, including education and outreach, direct services, and now program oversight and evaluation. Rebecca has been serving as Manager of Domestic Violence Programs since 2012 and has found her most rewarding work to be grounded in community collaboration and system enhancement. Within her own organization, she has progressively changed its policies to reflect the trauma-informed model with voluntary services and has updated its procedures to accept male survivors into the shelter. With a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from University of California, San Diego, she anticipates receiving her Masters of Arts in Nonprofit Leadership and Management form the University of San Diego in 2016. Rebecca has a passion for social justice, creating equity, and promoting nonviolent communities.
