San Jose Resident Honored with Statewide Award for Domestic Violence Advocacy

Shay Franco-Clausen of Silicon Valley FACES awarded for work “to change systems, policies or procedures to increase justice for marginalized communities”

September 11, 2017 – Fresno, Calif.: The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence, a coalition representing 1,000 survivors, advocates, organizations, and allied individuals working to support survivors of domestic violence, honored San Jose resident Shay Franc-Clausen with the Equity Award at its annual reception. Ms. Franco-Clausen, who works at the organization Silicon Valley FACES, is known as a “community healer, change-maker, nonprofit founder, and advocate proactively finding ways to serve as a voice for those who can’t.”

“Our state is lucky to have like an advocate like Shay Franco-Clausen speaking up for Californians in need,” said Kathy Moore, Executive Director of the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence. “We are proud to honor her today at our annual reception, and look forward to seeing more of her work bringing people together in the years ahead.”

 “Shay Franco-Clausen has increased the awareness of domestic violence, changing the culture that allows this scourge to flourish. Her compassionate advocacy has made a difference in people’s lives every day,” said State Senator Jim Beall.

Ms. Franco-Clausen currently serves as Vice-Chair on the Santa Clara County Commission on the Status of Women, as well as a number of other boards and committees, positions she uses to fight for socioeconomic, racial, and gender equity throughout the Bay Area.
