Request for Proposal:
2008 Verizon Wireless—West Area HopeLine Ò Grant

Funding Parameters

This RFP is for domestic violence agencies (either 501(c)(3) or government) located in the twelve western states and El Paso County (Texas).  Funding falls within three broad categories: 1) direct client services, 2) raising public awareness and 3) staff and volunteer training.

Background: Verizon Wireless--West Area HopeLine Grants

Grant can range from $3,000 to more than $10,000 and vary in size by state.  Grants in prior years have funded, for example: improving child-to-staff ratios in group therapy sessions; purchasing supplies and equipment for a shelter's on-site pre-school and child care facility; producing and distributing an awareness video to public television stations; establishing a GED library at a transitional living facility; expanding the capacity of a batterer intervention program; creating and distributing Spanish-language materials; and producing resource manuals to help train advocates working in shelters.

HopeLine phones: Verizon Wireless also donates wireless phones with pre-paid airtime to agencies supporting survivors of domestic violence. To learn how to apply for phones and airtime for survivors, please see “HopeLine Phones” on page two.
