Karen Wilson is a member of the Dine Nation. She is from Fort Defiance AZ. located on the Navajo Reservation. She attended Fort Lewis College where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in Durango, CO. Karen successfully completed 2 summer internships (12 Credits) in Washington DC studying Native American Politics at American University. Her summer internships included working at the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Institute of Health. After completing her undergraduate degree, she moved to Oceanside, CA. where she had worked for Tri City Hospital, Behavioral Health Unit. She worked for Indian Health Council, Inc. as their Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Case Manager. As a Tribal Social Worker, she advocated for Native American families working with County Child Welfare Services, Indian Specialty Unit (ISU) to reunify families by attending state court proceedings and representing tribes on ICWA matters. Karen currently works for Strong Hearted Native Women’s Coalition as their Victim Services Liaison. Karen received her Certificate of Completion for completing 65.5 hours of Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Crisis Intervention Training. Karen enjoys helping and advocating for her community when it comes to helping people who are at a disadvantage.
