An Ethical Approach to Confidentiality, Mandatory Reporting & Communication with the Child Welfare System
This event is a benefit of membership with the Partnership.

Capacity building event

The anti-violence community is focused on empowering survivors of domestic and sexual violence so they can determine their own destinies and find safety. But when there is harm to children, the goals of self-determination and prevention of harm can feel suddenly at odds because of mandatory reporting requirements and the pattern of child welfare intervention in family lives. Through instruction on the law, interactive analysis of scenarios, and small group exercises, this day-long course will prepare participants to navigate the legal duties to break confidentiality to report child abuse and to support adult and child survivors of violence in a manner that is consistent with principles of self-determination, empowerment, and social justice.
